Monday ShiatsuThe word Shiatsu literally means finger (shi) pressure (atsu). Invented by Shizuto Masunaga, Zen Shiatsu is rooted in the theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Five Element Theory and is a modernized form of the ancient art of acupressure or "acupuncture without needles"; it is used to stimulate the body's innate healing mechanisms. |
Tuesday AcupunctureThe intent of acupuncture therapy is to promote health and alleviate pain and suffering. The method by which this is accomplished, though it may seem strange and mysterious to many, has been time tested over thousands of years and continues to be validated today. The perspective from which an acupuncturist views health and sickness hinges on concepts of "vital energy", "energetic balance" and "energetic imbalance". Just as the Western medical doctor monitors the blood flowing through blood vessels and the messages traveling via the nervous system, the acupuncturist assesses the flow and distribution of this "vital energy" within its pathways, known as "meridians and channels".
My love of hypnosis and hypnotherapy comes from the unlimited ways it can be used to help us relax, explore changes and transitions in our life, and utilize the skills and resources we have within ourselves to meet life and what life has to offer. Working in collaboration with my clients I seek to create a safe and honouring place for them to look inward in their own unique way. Ericksonian hypnotherapy uses stories, metaphors and the clients experience to help the client enter a trance state—which is basically a very relaxed state where our everyday mind can step out of the way a bit, and allow the unconscious mind—the part of us that can change patterns and see things just a little differently to use the time and space we create together to work on the things in our life that are important to us. Relaxation is one of the most powerful ways of decreasing the mental, physical and emotional stress we live with. Hypnosis and the relaxation experienced in hypnosis can help: slow our heart rate, lower blood pressure, reduce muscle tension, improve concentration, reduce anger and frustration and help us find the resources to meet life and life threatening illness. Unrestricted ☓ HypnotherapyHypnosis is a state of focused concentration during which a person becomes less aware of his or her surroundings. Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis to treat physical or psychological conditions. Hypnotherapy is a recognized medical treatment in Canada. During a hypnotic state, or trance, people may be more likely to accept suggestions that can help change their behaviour. A therapist (hypnotherapist) can lead the hypnosis, or he or she can teach people to hypnotize themselves (self-hypnosis). You can also learn self-hypnosis from books. The hypnotherapist's goal is not to control a person or give the person answers but rather to help the person solve his or her own problems. For further information visit the BC Health Guide, available at: http://www.bchealthguide.org search window. Massage Therapy involves acting and manipulating the patient's body with pressure (structured, unstructured, stationary, and/or moving), tension, motion, or vibration done manually or with mechanical aids. Target tissues may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints, or other connective tissue, as well as, lymphatic vessels, and/or organs of the gastrointestinal system. Reflexology is the practice of massaging, squeezing, or pushing on parts of the feet, or sometimes the hands and ears, with the goal of encouraging a beneficial effect on other parts of the body, or to improve general health. |

Healing Mediation
It can be said that every form of meditation offers healing, but some forms were designed with this specific intention in mind. In this form of healing meditation, through the power of the mind, we infuse the body, right down to the cellular structure, with healing light in various colors. The vibrational qualities of these colored lights contribute to healing both physically and psychologically. |

Acupuncture
The intent of acupuncture therapy is to promote health and alleviate pain and suffering.
