Friends For Life operates the Diamond Centre For Living, a restored heritage home in the heart of the West End of Vancouver, where we provide the majority of our services. A safe, confidential environment, The Diamond Centre For Living is open 76 hours a week, 7 days a week, 350 days a year, so our volunteers and staff are readily available when our members need us.
The Diamond Centre For Living is wheelchair accessible and equipped with an elevator.
We rent this beautiful heritage home for $1 per year from the City of Vancouver.
In our first five years operating the Diamond Centre For Living (December 1, 1995 - December 1, 2000), Friends For Life provided 53,450 life-affirming appointments to our members including:
- 2,600 individual counselling sessions with qualified volunteer counsellors
- 21,700 nutritious meals through our four meal programs
- 3,150 member visits to our Resource Library
- 7,100 massage and bodywork sessions with qualified massage therapists and bodyworkers
- 6,700 group support and workshop sessions
- 12,200 drop-in visits from members stopping by for a cup of coffee or tea, a cookie, a chat with volunteers and staff, relaxing on the sofa, knitting, and haircuts
